Royals Begin Season at 14u Invitational

The Royals opened their season over the weekend in the 14u Perfect Game Invitational. The bulk of their games were played at LakePoint, with one game on Friday night at neighboring Cartersville High School. The 2017 Royals are coached by Matt Fountain.

After three hard fought games in which the Royals came up just short, Coach Fountain said, "I am happy with the way the kids competed all weekend." "We learned a lot about our team and we have a lot of things to improve on in practice next week," he added.

Five Royals were named to the All-Tournament team for stellar performances over the three games. Offensively, it was Braden Allen (3 for 5) and Isaiah Boomer (3 for 7) that received All-Tournament honors. On the mound, Christian Calloway (2.1 IP, 5 K's, 0.00 ERA), Tae Stroud (2 IP, 2 H, 0.00 ERA), and Jacob Ferguson (5 IP, 2 K's, 4 H, 2.80 ERA) were also given All-Tournament Team honors.

The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, April 22nd at the Falcon Invitational in Flowery Branch, Ga.
